the summer is gonna be denim & finally it's not a no-go anymore to combine different washed fabrics with each other! absolute must-have: patched jeans pants & shirts. very easy do-it-yourself, since my wardrobe is full of old jeans and shirts.

destroyed jeans jacket by acne. lovely, as nearly every ACNE style, but as always way too expensive! definitely a sweet inspiration for a future diy!

this outfit is just too stunning (although I am not too sure if i would seriously wear it) but i will definitely give it a try and colour one of my jeans blouses like that. i am curios how it's gonna turn out and can't wait to get started...

BITS + PIECES /// The Relaunch

i haven't been very active here the last couple of weeks and am truly sorry for my long absence. there are several reasons for that, by and large it seems like there's a big relaunch going on in my life right now - a relaunch that is still keeping me very excited and busy. 

first and foremost i moved in with a very special person <3 - and after redoing the appartment for weeks i am now in possession of some very lovely new vintage furniture & lots of new selfmade interior treasuries. we are definitely more then satisfied with the result....

well, there are a lot of other things going on - i am planning a new online magazine with a very good friend (one of the best indeed), i gonna start a new work on monday (don't wanna say too much about that so far) and finally made up my mind about my summer vacation plans. all in all i had some very exciting and busy last weeks but will definitely return to constant posts from now on. back to life then...!

D.I.Y. /// 'Vintage' Framed Memories

My new memoboard made out of an old wooden picture frame I found in our basement a couple of days ago... I love these kind of little treasuries... 
Very decorative and easy as pie...!

What you need: + old wooden frame + spray paint (colour of your choice) + pins (the small ones) + hammer + wire (available in silver, gold or white)
    

Homemade memoboard & clothing rack... Both turned out great!

D.I.Y. /// The Necklace Quickie

Since I love to wear black clothes and styles in every variation I am always looking for unusual fancy jewellery, particularly necklaces or bracelets. But it's not as easy as it seems to find the perfect one matching a specific outfit, and of course sometimes it's not only a matter of taste but rather money. One of the reasons why I prefer to do it myself...

Ich bin immer auf der Suche nach ausgefallenem Hals- und Armschmuck, um meinen vorzugsweise schwarzen Outfits die nötige Absonderlichkeit zu verleihen. Aber irgendwie gibt es dann doch immer irgendwas, das mir nicht in den Kram passt, weswegen ich dann noch lieber selber Hand anlege und mit diversen Kleinteilen aus dem Baumarkt und schwarzem Allzweckseil Abhilfe schaffe.... 

STEP ONE: Getting prepared. All you need are screw nuts from the hardware store, cord, some thinner lace, a lighter to fix the ends of the raw cutted cord, and some scissors of course...

SCHRITT EINS: Die Vorbereitung. Alles, was man benötigt, gibt es im Baumarkt um die Ecke. Da ich allerdings kein Profi auf diesem Gebiet bin, nenne ich die Sachen jetzt einfach mal Allzweckseil, feinere Schnüre (Stickschnüre eignet sich eigentlich am Besten) und diverse "Rohrverbindungsteile" (entschuldige Papa) in jeglicher forme et couleur! Was, wie, wo - der Fantasie sind dabei keine Grenzen gesetzt.

STEP TWO: Trying out how you like it most. There are neverending possibilities how to combine those three things. Also worth to try: different coloured cords... 

SCHRITT ZWEI: Die Umsetzung. Hier habe ich drei gleichlange Stück Seil verwendet, der mittlere Teil wurde dann nochmal durch ein kurzes, viertes Stück ergänzt und mit Stickschnüre verstärkt (siehe unten). Auch hübsch: unterschiedlich farbiges Seil und Schnüre.

I love appartment decoration, and as much as I love my own cosy place in Berlin I always like to sneak around, looking for other peoples places, picturing myself living there. Today I just found these simple two bedrooms: The one with its pallet-made bed (I still wonder where you can actually get these big ones?) and the greyish wall on the left, or with a wide window and clean white sheets like the one on the right. I think I want them both, or am I asking too much?

When I saw this amazing chain of lights at Swedish GRANIT at Götgatan I felt immediatley in love with it. And since I couldn't get it out of my head anymore I had to buy it in the end, of course. After calling it my own I funnily found it on a lot of design bloggs and am even more impressed. I am still not sure yet where to put it, but this is how it works so far - right above my bed!

Not sure how you could get any work done on a desk like this, but it looks really cosy. And since I am still with this awful cold and can't really leave the appartment I'll probably go for this memory-board and try to arrange my own ensemble!

PRINTED SHIRTS /// "Tape'n'Go!"

Shirts mit übergroßen Prints sind so Achtziger und meinetwegen way to tacky style - und doch wage ich zu fragen, wann genau waren die eigentlich mal nicht angesagt? Ich kann mich nicht erinnern und zugegebenermaßen gehen die irgendwie einfach immer - egal ob zu Jeans, Leggings, Pencil Skirts oder Shorts. Problem: Irgendwie hat man trotzdem nie genug von ihnen und wenn man sie dann mal wirklich braucht, schaut man in den Kleiderschrank und findet mehr einfarbige Basics auf der Stange, die dem Anlass entsprechend schlichtweg zu langweilig sind. 

Hier kommt, was ich in so einer Situation pflege zu tun: Man nehme eine Rolle Gaffa-Tape, ein weißes, schwarzes oder sonstig farbiges Shirt und klebt zurecht, was einem in den Kopf kommt: Den eigenen Namen, den Namen der Liebsten, schlagkräftige Statements, lustige Icons, oder was auch immer. Hält einen Abend ganz sicher bombenfest und lässt sich jederzeit wieder entfernen (Achtung: Nicht auf allen Materialien ohne Spuren zu hinterlassen, am Besten ihr testet es zuerst auf der Innenseite des Shirts!)

Funktioniert übrigens auch mit allen anderen Kleidungstücken, auf Kunstlederjacken hinterlässt der Spaß aber ganz sicher unliebsame Rückstände. Wem Gaffa-Tape also zu gewagt und aggressiv ist, der versucht es vielleicht besser mit Kreppband. Das hält allerdings wiederum nicht auf allen Materialien. Einfach ausprobieren!

       

Wer mehr Inspiration benötigt, der wird hier fündig: beim schwedischen Label 5preview (I love) oder beim kalifornischen Kultlabel wildfox couture (mir persönlich definitiv zu tacky und leider völlig überteuert). Aber nicht vergessen: Doing it yourself is fun, but the original is always still the best! Liebst, S.

It's somehow really 80ies, I notice, but that doesn't matter, because they will never go out of fashion anyway: printed shirts, most likely simple in black and white. With serious statements, random stuff on it, pictures, stories, poems... whatever!

All you need is a shirt and gaffa tape and there you go. Its fun and really easy - just make sure its not your favourite shirt ever you trying it with, because it possibly leaves little marks after removing it again.

     

For more inspiration, check one of my favourite brands, the Swedish 5preview  (I'm loving the 5preview brand-inspired clothing line) or the Californian wildfox couture (though not a brand I would consider wearing at all, definitely too tacky). But remember: Doing it yourself is fun, but the original is always still the best! Love, S.

LYKKE LI/// "Shaping and Chaining"

Die wohl inspirierendste Frau und Stilikone im Fashion- und DIY-Kosmos schlechthin ist derzeit zweifelsohne Lykke Li. Ich liebe ihre wallenden Roben und ihren Mut, nicht nur musikalisch. Erlaubt ist, was sich gut anfühlt und nur darum geht es! Im Interview mit Lykke für das Musikmagazin unclesallys aus Berlin gesteht die smarte Schwedin, dass ihre Kreationen so gut wie immer auf ihren Mist gewachsen sind, sie gerne auf dem Flohmarkt shoppen geht und mitunter auch schonmal selber zur Schere greift, um Klamotten von der Stange zu pimpen. Thumps up, Lady Li! 

Ich hingegen bastel gerade an eigenen oversized Gliederketten-Kreationen à la Lykke Li zum Nachmachen und werde sie so schnell wie möglich hier posten!

      

Lykke Li probably doesn’t need much of an introduction these days anymore. She's one of the most inspiring female artists right now. It's not only that she is a great musician, but also this extremely fashionable woman, who isn't afraid of just being herself! I really love her jewelleries, how she combines them and I gonna try to figure out some DIY-copies. As soon as I have, I will post them here.
